Magnesium Deficiency SymptomsLack of magnesium leads to metabolic disorders, and also weakens the nerves and muscles, keeping the latter in constant tension. This, in turn, causes stress, insomnia and depression. For other effects of magnesium deficiency, read our article.

Main signs of magnesium deficiency

If you notice some of the symptoms listed below, we recommend that you check for magnesium levels as soon as possible with a blood test.

Muscle problems. With a shortage of magnesium, the signals sent by the brain about the need to relax do not reach our muscles. As a result, the body is in constant tension, which ultimately leads to muscle spasms and pain.

Heart rhythm disorders. Disorders of magnesium caused by magnesium deficiency lead to heart rhythm problems and chest pain in the heart area.

Inexplicable inner anxiety, tension. The tendency to baseless and obsessive anxiety is one of the main symptoms of magnesium deficiency.

Problems with heat transfer. People suffering from magnesium imbalances tend to feel cold even when they are in a warm room.

Depression. With magnesium deficiency, people are characterized by bad thoughts and mood swings, as well as emotional exhaustion.

Constant fatigue. Even getting enough sleep, a person all the time feels fatigue and can not concentrate at work.

Concentration disorders. The inability to stay focused on one thing for a long time, also known as attention deficit disorder, is most often dictated by severe fatigue — and that, as mentioned above, indicates that the body lacks magnesium.

What foods are rich in magnesium?
Having noticed any of the signs of a lack of this trace element, do not rush to buy vitamin supplements. It will be much more beneficial for the body to get magnesium in a more natural way – through food. Here is a list of the best sources of magnesium:

Fruits: bananas, avocados, grapefruit, dried apricots, dried figs.

Greens and vegetables: broccoli, spinach, soybeans, peas, dill.

Cereal products and nuts: sunflower seeds, pumpkins and flax, almonds, buckwheat.

Other products: dark chocolate, halvah, marzipan, black tea, goat cheese, salmon.
